Roaming the Streets
Outreach: Making the Connection
Every Weekend, our social workers engage in active outreach, roaming through the central streets of Jerusalem. Our Goal is to approach teens and offer crisis intervention when necessary, tell them about Crossroads services and make them aware general resources. As we approach teens and young adults on the street, we establish bonds of trust and support maintained over time. These meetings will often lead towards teens making use of the full range of therapeutic services we offer in our drop in center.
Our “Coloring the Streets” program is designed to make connections with teens that are hard to reach, through an art activity held on the streets of downtown Jerusalem at midnight. We offer these teens a chance to participate in our weekly art project led by our social workers with free supplies and an opportunity for creative expression. As participants become accutumed with our art table, they hear about the opportunities for help they can find at the Crossroads Center.
